Best Alternative Advent Calendars 2018 - Beauty Advent & More
Whether you love or loathe the Christmas countdown, I can tell you now; its well and truly BEGUN! It may only be the end of October and you may well still have not even delved into your tights drawer yet but hunnay its here. The idea of advent calendars has been around since goodness knows when, but gone are the days when the build up to festivities is signalled by a tasteless chocolate the size of a 20 pence coin. Things have evolved and now not only do we have the choice of lavish chocolate advent calendars, but you’ll find extravagant beauty buys and mini gifts for the lead up to Christmas. So whether it’s a little gift to yourself or a pre Christmas gift for a loved one… I’ve rounded up the best of the unconventional advent calendars out there.
So as a self confessed beauty addict I would be jumping out of bed every morning opening any of the beauty advent calendars out there at the moment. The perfect way to sample some of your favourite brands without committing to one product or anything full sized. It also means 24 days of broadening your makeup and beauty skincare.
So although pricey (listen these aren’t the casual advent calendar you pick up on a whim… this itself is a GIFT) one that I think sounds insane is the Charlotte Tilbury calendar. As someone that has always wanted to try out Charlotte’s glorious array of hyped up products but never known which to try first (they all have rave reviews) this is a great option. Included in this advent calendar is a range of iconic makeup and skincare from Charlotte Tilbury.

Not into trying out beauty products everyday? Cant relate but okay… I’ve got something else you might like. Another guilty pleasure of mine is stationary. Kikki K being the cutest on the market right now. It’s a sweet Swedish label and included are 24 stationary bits from pens and stickers, to candles and note pads.
If your beauty product interests go far beyond that one brand, try this one featuring a range of makeup, hair and skincare essentials. Filled with iconic products you either already love or need to try from brands like Estee Lauder, Clinique, MAC, Bobbi Brown, Smashbox and more.
The next advent calendar is yes crazily expensive but INSANELY beautiful and now considered a collectors item after the successes of previous years. Set inside the most beautiful festive illustration of the Jo Malone London Townhouse, wrapped in a sparkly gold bow, the calendar is filled with classic iconic fragrances from colognes and candles to bath and body products. You'll find cult classics like Lime Basil and Mandarin Cologne amongst some new seasonal launches like a Frosted Cherry & Clove candle new this christmas.
Now I know those are on the rather (very) pricey spectrum, so if you're looking for a rather adventurous advent calendar for a friend or family member but dont want to splash the cash quite so much. I found H&M do a very cute one. Behind each door are little festive pieces of jewellery. Available only online it's a little bit more of an interesting calendar to get in the festive spirit.
So that concludes my round up this years rather adventurous advent calendars if you're looking for something a little more interesting either to treat o'self or as a gift!
