How To Style A Statement Coat

I absolutely love a statement coat. In the winter it’s the easiest way to look stylish, standout amongst the depressing greys and blacks of winter fashion and also keep warm. Win win. I’m forever borrowing my mums cool items of clothing and this one is no exception. If you’ve got that stand out piece but want to bring it down a notch so you can wear it for an everyday look read on.

First thing to think about - Length
This coat comes to just under my bottom, so I felt it could be dressed down with a pair of boyfriend jeans for an everyday look. A coat this length, and in this fluffy style, would make you look rather top heavy if worn with leggings. However for an evening look that could be perfect.
The thing that makes this coat a real statement piece is this gorgeous green colour. I decided to stick in and around the same kind of tones without going head to toe green and doing a shrek…! I think the light blues and purples work well with this look and make it an easy day time look.
I’ve worn flat trainers from Axel Arigato which i LOVE with this outfit. Because I wanted this to look like an effortless casual ensemble. The slight wedge gives you a little height which is super flattering, especially when wearing boyfriend cut jeans.

So whatever the stand out nature of your coat is - just know you don’t need to be afraid of it, it can be dressed down and not look OTT.
