Being the host for Hackney Walk's topping out ceremony!
So on Tuesday I had the pleasure of hosting the topping out ceremony of Hackney Walk's fashion hub. In my own opinion this is basically the East End's edgy version of Bicester Village, which is based in the reclaimed railway arches as well as some new attractive buildings. Not yet completed and the area already boasts outlets such as Burberry, Pringle, Nike and Aquascutum. So I was really excited to be involved in such an up and coming cool new location for London's fashion industry. I managed to snap a few pictures of the event, based in some of the railway arches on Morning Lane.
This is the stage just before the guests (consisting of designers, press, local people in the area as well as investors and important figures in this regeneration for Hackney) arrived. The piece of art work at the back was by Rich Fairhead who completed the illustration of Hackney Walk and important local landmarks in the area during the speeches. At the end the guests that came to speak got the opportunity to sign his pretty cool piece of art. I have to say there is nothing more satisfying to me than seeing someone write with impeccable handwriting.
Hi, this is me. I decided to opt for my H&M jumpsuit and a nude lip.
People starting to arrive and queuing up for a fresh coffee and some breakfast to keep warm outside the railway arches.
The event was catered by some cool eateries including E5 Bakehouse, Street Kitchen and Hackney Fresh Raw juices.
I even managed to grab a cupcake on my way out.
Heres a picture from the website of what the finished plan for Hackney Walk's fashion hub will be and there is plenty more information on their website which you can click HERE for, it tells you more about the aims for the area and the hope that it will not only be great for the fashion hub but spill over to the rest of Hackney and the local businesses.
Overall I had a fun time being host, talking briefly about myself and introducing Hackney Walks Fashion Hub and the guest speakers including the founder of Hackney Walk, The Deputy major of London, The Major of Hackney and other investors.
