Micro - dermabrasion In The Cotswolds - Cherish Salon
London Fashion Week is over and I headed back to the Cotswolds to get my life back to its organised state and also have some chill time after the chaos of fashion week. Living in the Cotswolds half of the time I love, and it means Im always searching for the quality of services as well as retail you get in London, but right here in the gorgeous surroundings of the Cotswolds! So if you haven’t heard of the quaint Tetbury then it’s somewhere you definitely need to visit if you’re heading in this direction.

So having heard about a very cute little salon in the heart of Tetbury (in true Cotswold style – right down a little track and set amongst Cotswold stone houses) I looked up all the treatments they had in store. I’ve heard great things about microdermabrasion facials and have been wanting to try it for a while now. After fashion week and the endless re-applying of makeup I was doing, I couldn’t think of a better time.
My treatment – Crystal Clear Microdermabrasion
What is it:
A gentle skin-resurfacing treatment to rejuvenate and lift tired skin (yes please) & improves any lines, wrinkles, scarring from acne or pigmentation issues.
How does it work:
It’s a super safe and not at all scary procedure (even though the name sounds a little crazy!) where your skin is deeply exfoliated using a flow of crystals from this little machine. mechanically exfoliates the outermost layer of dead skin cells (the stratum corneum) by shooting out little crystals and vacuums them away, leaving your skin feeling softer and smoother.
At the Cherish salon:
Included in facial was a cleanse, the microdermabrasion, a face mask and a back massage – Absolute heaven.
So as I say the salon is very cute and small in comparison to some of the bigger, more well known salons you’ll find in the Cotswolds when looking for spa days and treatments. But this is reflected in prices - the microdermabrasion facial was £38 for 40 minutes and other treatments like a Brazilian wax are £23, opposed to £40 in most other salons in the area.
So I was greated by Eiren who I’ve used previously to do my nails and she was taking me for my first microdermabrasion treatment. What I love about the salon is you’re getting the girls’ genuine advice about skincare, rather than them forcing certain products they’d like to sell on you. She recommended so many great products for my sensitive and dry skin and took extra care in a couple of areas around my eyes that Im having issues with. She explained the procedure and started off with the back massage. After fashion week I had the inevitable creaks and aches in my shoulders and back and the massage was welcomed with open arms!
Then we started on cleansing my face ready for the microdermabrasion. This just involves gentle products and some eye pads for relaxation. The microdermabrasion started and the machine really only feels like its sucking up, but it’s in fact also shooting the crystals out, if you feel your skin you can sort of feel the little remnants left before they’re washed off at the end. This honestly feels so satisfying – you can just imagine it sucking any impurities out and plumping up your skin. Afterwards hot towels remove any excess crystals and a mask is placed on your face, during which you get a little shoulder massage to allow the mask to do its thang! Finally moisturise and you’re al done.
Leaving the salon I was unbelievably relaxed and kept touching my super soft skin. The immediate effects where soft and plumped up skin, but the oils left on your skin to soak obviously aren’t that appealing, so it wasn’t til the next morning I could see how much better, brighter and fuller my skin was looking. The other thing, that for me, was amazing was that I have bad eczema on my eyelids (weird but sadly true) and it makes my eyes super sore and sensitive, the two days after this my eyelids were smooth, soft and not at all dried out. Honestly so happy with that! (I had to go back and edit this bit in!) I can already feel myself booking another one!
If you’re heading to the Cotswolds and fancy the treatments, or you live in the area I honestly would recommend this little salon. It’s so cute and the treatments are of the best quality, without breaking the bank. I will pop their website at the bottom, as well as their facebook page so you guys can see for yourself.
